In a speech he delivered today following to the approval by Ethiopia’s Peoples’ Representatives as new prime minister of Ethiopia, Dr. Abiy Ahmed summon on Eritrean Government to ‘take necessary steps thus to restore and install pacific atmosphere between both countries.’ In this speech where Horn Africa’s multi-layered political ramifications have been identified, the new Prime Minister expressed his ‘expectations on the government o Eritrea to take necessary measurements thus to ‘deliberate’ on ‘how to end’ the two decades stalled relationship of the peculiarly interconnected nations.’
While appreciating Ethiopians who died ‘in safeguarding Badme,’ an indisputable territorial land of Eritrea, Dr. Abiy speech was colored with the all-day ‘Ethiopia’s great history’ and its name as ‘icon of freedom and peace-deliverer to Africans.’ “As we are at the juncture where different countries—provoked for ascertaining their own interest—are chasing our region countries, taking heartedly supported measures is vital,” he adds.
Though the new elected prime minister showered his appreciation to the former Prime Minister, Hailemariam Desalegn, on ‘his peaceful transition of power in the way that Africans would take significant lessons,’ his speech that was filled with excessive words of exaggerating Ethiopia’s success in comparison with its challenging trends, raises eyebrows to what extent the new Prime Minister would be free from not serving as minion of the EPRDF party.
Meanwhile, though it is apparent that better geo-political landscape could have been created in Horn Africa had Ethiopia been ready to the accomplishment of the demarcation of border without any further and out modeled claims that violate the Eritrean-Ethiopian Border Commission verdicts, ‘deliberating’ on the final rules of the commission is just a Trojan horse thus to avoid complexities of history that happened between Cameroon and Nigeria, Israel and Syria, Morocco and Western Sahara, and other listless countries. Indeed, a history of endless calamities and bloodshed!
