Eritrea's Meron Abraham wins Stage 7 of La Tropicale Amissa Bongo
Eritrea's Meron Abraham winning the La Tropicale Amissa Bango 2017 final stage on Sunday to the delight of the host nation, Gabon.
Eritrean cyclist Meron Abraham won the seventh and final stage of La Tropicale Amissa Bongo.
Winning with a time of 3 hours 10 minutes and 5 seconds, the final stage was between Owendo and Libreville for a distance of 137.5 km
This is the 21-year-old's first individual victory in the pros and comes just three weeks after his continental title in the team time trial in Luxor, Egypt.
French rider Yohann Gene (Direct Energie) becomes the overall winner of the Tropicale ahead of another Eritrean Tesfom Okubamariam (Interpro) and Nikodemus Holler (Bike Aid).
Tesfom also received his trophy for the Best African Cyclist for 2016 from the president of the jury, Bernard Hinault.
