R.I.P Ambassador Girma Asmerom

We, members of the organizations comprising the National Council of Eritrean Americans in Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orange county, San Bernardino and San Diego join our fellow compatriots inside and outside Eritrea in expressing our heartfelt condolences over the death of Ambassador Girma Asmerom to his immediate family, friends and the government of Eritrea. The late Ambassador will eternally be remembered for his commitment and dedication to strengthening the bilateral and multilateral relations between Eritrea and the countries and international institutions in which he served as representative of Eritrea and in advancing Eritrea's national interests. It is to be recalled that the late Ambassador was among the thousands of young men who fought heroically during the struggle for independence of Eritrea and served the EPLF in various capacities. Ambassador Girma was world class diplomat.

We salute him wholeheartedly and renew our pledge to continue to uphold the principles and values that Ambassador Girma was dedicated to Eternal Glory to him and those that passed before him.

May God rest his soul in peace and bless his family and the nation at large as we mourn his death and celebrate his lifetime achievements.

Eritrea's Permanent Representative to the UN,

HE Ambassador Girma Asmerom passed away due to illness in New York on October 5, 2016.

In loving memory for late veteran fighter, Ambassador Girma Asmerom, the Eritrean community of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut will hold a Memorial Service to honor his dedication and service to his country and people.
