[Photos] EU and Eritrean officials planted trees in Embadorho
By Delegation of the EU to Eritrea
It has been a great rainy season this year in Eritrea. On yesterday's beautiful August morning, the Delegation of the European Union to Eritrea, in conjunction with the Eritrean Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Land, Water and Environment and the European Union Member States Embassies accredited to Eritrea, planted 100 olive trees in Embadorho (about 11km outside of Asmara). We are excited to see them reaching the sky in the next few years! Thanks to all of those who participated and came out to lend a hand.
The European Union has been supporting the people and government of Eritrea through the 10th EDF programme and other thematic programmes to enhance the agricultural sector and food security in Eritrea and other development thematic instruments . The natural resources management is one of the practical initiatives which intervened in production and plantation over 4 million seedlings in all regions of Eritrea. Environment mitigation programmes are key and basis for sustainable development to improve the livelihood of the people especially in the rural areas.
