Eritrean Independence Day Flag Raising Ceremony in New Orleans, Louisiana

The city of New Orleans, Louisiana Proclaimed May 24th as Eritreans Independence Day; and hoist Eritrean Flag at the building of the City Hall.

On Friday, May 20, 2016 Eritrean –American Community of New Orleans and its Environs celebrated as Eritrean flag raised at the Building of the City Hall. The Mayor of New Orleans Mr. Mitchell J. Landrieu, presented a Proclamation of certificate to the community.

We were honored and pleased to see the flag of Eritrean to be hoist next to the American flag, which we paid a lot of price—so many lives. We recognized our martyr’s sacrifices by celebrating this huge day.

The Flag of Eritrea will be flaying at the Building through the week of the Eritrean Independence day, which is Tuesday May 24, 2016.
