Consul General conducts Global Mekete seminar for residents of Toronto

Mr. Teumezghi Tesfa, Eritrea's new Consul General in Toronto conducted a Global Mekete Seminar on November/08/2015.
Mr. Teumezghi introduced himself to the community members for the first time since his arrival in Canada. He explained that he is pleased to be here serving the community and building stronger relations with the Government of Canada.
The Consul General provided an update with respect to the political, social and economic situation in Eritrea and called upon the participants to continue their involvement in strengthening the community. He encouraged the participants to travel to Eritrea for the Silver Jubilee in 2016 as it is an important occasion that Eritrean-Canadians should participate in.
Mr. Teumezghi explained that Eritrea is embarking on significant economic and social transformation programs which include the printing of new Nakfa bank notes. He emphasized that the participation of the Diaspora in nation building cannot be understated and urged them to continue their efforts.
The seminar concluded after a Q&A period where participants were given an opportunity to convey their opinions and questions with the members of the audience and the Consul General.
In other news, The Consul General attended the Remembrance Day ceremony on November 11, 2015 at Queens Park to commemorate the fallen men and women of Canada's Armed Forces in both the World Wars.
