Tigray People Liberation Front (TPLF) Lies about Nile Agreement

The recent “Agreement on Declaration of Principles between Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Project (GERDP),” is yet another example on how the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) is selling Ethiopia while in-the-process of formulating the Greater (Abay) Independent Tigray.
The TPLF has been selling the Hidesa/Renaissance Dam as if it is an existential issue and, that it is “Ethiopia’s right to develop.” To that end, the TPLF turned the issue to a political-campaign designed to rally the Ethiopian people, sold shares to ensure funding (albeit unsuccessfully) and tried to paint Egypt as villain-determined to stop Ethiopian progress by any means.
However, contrary to the rhetoric, the agreement favors Egypt and neutralizes Ethiopia’s sovereign right to the Nile. Any future development project related to the Nile must go through international panel of experts. That means Ethiopia can-no longer unilaterally decide what it can do with the Nile.
The core of the agreement is predicated upon the headline, “Principle to Cooperate on the First Filling and Operation of the Dam,” which states,
“To implement the recommendations of the International Panel of Experts (IPOE), respect the final outcomes of the Technical National Committee (TNC) Final Report on the joint studies recommended in the IPOE Final Report throughout the different phases of the project. The three countries, in the spirit of cooperation, will utilize the final outcomes of the joint studies, to be conducted as per the recommendations of the IPoE Report and agreed upon by the TNC.”
The question; what lead to the sudden change? How did the parties come to the framework of agreement? Most important, why did Egypt agree?
The government of Sudan is happy with the TPLF regime. In fact, one can argue that ethnically divided and weakened Ethiopia serves Sudan’s national interests and the TPLF is a perfect vehicle. Moreover, huge chunks of Ethiopian land were given to Sudan as part of border agreement and, on the 40th Anniversary of the TPLF, President Omar Al-Bashir of Sudan was amongst the prominent figures that participated.
Egypt on the other hand has always had acrimonious relations with Ethiopia. Egypt has long been suspected of arming various Ethiopian rebels and, accused for lobbying against the funding of the dam.
The agreement may have changed the relations finally. And if body-language and facial expression can tell, the smiles and joyful expression of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi of Egypt tells it all. The agreement is a significant achievement because for the first time Egyptians are able to secure an agreement that can settle the Nile issue finally.
The question remains why the TPLF signed an agreement that places more restrictions on Ethiopia’s ability to exploit the Nile. Why now, after years of grandstanding, did the TPLF cave-in and sign an agreement?
The reality, it is a classic modus- operandi for the TPLF to sell all they can be it land, resources etc… for minor-temporary political gain at the expense of the long term future of the country. In this case however, the TPLF sold-out the minority TPLF-hardliner which went to-bat to sell the idea of the Hidesa Dam.
Key: the reason the TPLF sold-off what it calls, “Ethiopian Right to the Nile,” is to join the alliance led-by Saudi Arabia to attack Yemen and with a belief, by joining the alliance, it could remain relevant on regional affairs.
And true to form, on a recent article on its mouthpiece Aigaforum, TPLF declared Ethiopia, “Africa’s Next Hegemon: Behind Ethiopia’s power plays,” and placated the agreement as a major achievement. However, selling-off the rights to the Nile is a sign of the desperate state that the TPLF finds itself. It is evident that no matter how hard Hailemariam Desalegn tries, he cannot assume the stature Meles Zenawi garnered internationally because he is dealing from a position of weakness.
Conclusion
Tigrayans that support the TPLF regime have been pointing fingers at the average Ethiopian around the world that stood against the regime and tried to stop it from raising funds by selling shares and other coercive measures.
The agreement changed that. The people of Tigray are growing uneasy about the direction of the TPLF. In fact, for the first time, Aigaforum the mouthpiece of the TPLF was exposed showing its concern when it responded to a Reuter’s article, “Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan pick two firms for Nile dam study,” April 10, Aigaforum wrote,
“We hope these two firms have nothing in common with International River or Oakland Institute! It is also good to check if Mr. Leakey and his "Lake Turkana" fiasco against Gibe iii has nothing in common with the Dutch company!”
The TPLF is leading Ethiopia and particularly the people of Tigray into a deep dark state. The longer the TPLF stays in power the worse it will get. All the rhetoric about Nile was a political ploy that TPLF sold for a temporary political gain. TPLF is a sham and if not checked they will loot and run leaving Ethiopia in tatters.

Liar lie. That's what they do. Why would you expect anything different from Tigray People's Liberation Front?
ReplyDeleteMust everything about Ethiopia posted on this site always be negative? You guys really have a knack of turning even the best of things into pure shit. Ethiopia is doing well with regards to the dam, it's undeniable. All the naysayers who said the dam will never see the light of the day are already eating their words and so now must resort to distorting the facts. Fact is, most everything on that Foreign Affairs article is true. Ethiopia is fast becoming a hegemon in our region by creating interdependency among east African nations. Unfortunately for the haters it will also be the one holding the key.
ReplyDeleteIf you think attacking Tigray people is going to help you advance your cause, Think again. You guys played that ethinic divison card to hurt Ethiopia. Now, you better find somthing else because that card is over used by you guys.
ReplyDeleteKnowing weyane's past experience, full of contradictions and betrayals, I doubt about the say "The three countries, in the spirit of cooperation, will utilize the final outcomes of the joint studies" (IPOE)...They denied to be ruled by the EEBC 2002 final & binding decision.
ReplyDeleteThanks Amanuel for sharing the article.
You have a lot of information on weyane. Is your mom from Mekelle?
ReplyDeleteWhat would happen after tomorrow if all of the weyane were killed off? Who would you and our government then direct its hate against? During the time of the dergue it was actually the Amhara that we Eritreans hated the most. We use to say that they would smile in your face and put a knife in your back. You really think that the other ethnic groups in Ethiopia aside the Tigray love us and do not have fantasies about retaking Assab? It is not only the TPLF that is intransigent on the border issue...it is all of the Ethiopians. They do not like us, our government or our independence. But, we have to somehow, if possible, find a way of coming to peace with Ethiopia. There is simply no benefit in war of what lies in between. However, diplomatic avenues have failed for almost 15 years. At this stage, we need to mobilize an offensive against Ethiopia and take back Badme. How can we say that we cannot go on the offensive because Ethiopia has the backing of the US? During the liberation struggle of 1961-1991, even then, Ethiopia had the backing of either the US or the SSRR. What has become of our nation and us. I guess we have just grown tired of war and just cannot stomach it anymore. What more provocation do we need to go on the offensive?
ReplyDeleteOh my God!! I'd love to see nothing better than Eritrea go on the offensive. The last time the Eritrean army was wiped out in less than 6 days, and that was when the Eritreans were at their strongest. Now, after 15 years of demoralization, subjugation, abuse and enslavement, I doubt anyone will take up arms against Ethiopia. If they do, I wager the Eritrean army will be wiped out in 6 minutes. And don't think Ethiopia will stop there. Issayas will be removed, a puppet government installed in Asmara, which will be forced to legally allow the 9 ethnic groups to have a referendum on cessation from Eritrea. You will have the Northern Nations and Nationalities State created consisting of the Nara, Haderab, Beja, Tigre, Saho and Bilen and join Ethiopia as NNNS. Kunama will get their own state and join Ethiopia, the Afars will be absorbed into the Afar state of the Ethiopian Federation. The State of Eritrea will be the landlocked rump region made up of Hamasien and Seray. Mark my words! This is your destiny!
ReplyDeleteYes! Holding the Key on the fate of Eritrea!!
ReplyDeleteRight, Amanuel, take your meds. You're embarrasing yourself.
ReplyDeleteThe
ReplyDeletehighland warriors are invading the lowlander his land, mineral, sea resources
and the soldiers of the highland now starts to rape our wives which we
have never seen in the time of colonial time.
The international society has given us deaf ear. This time a big
genocide of the Afar red sea is taking place while I am witting this piece of
script. We the people of the lowland people of the red sea invite the
international society to visit Eritrea or take measure against the group
committing mass killing.
TPLF used to be tigrai people front...now I can assure you they are not they are and Dubai
ReplyDeleteAnta qomal agame, husur - weyane . do of your own.
ReplyDeleteAnta qomal, Melles has cried when he lost 120 thousand militia
ReplyDeleteat front in assab region the 3rd battle made by the chifras.
Melles - Agame has said to the americans in 2 days I will capture
Assab, what an idiot agame, he lost the above number, ask the baboon
Jendaye how melles collapsed and sent him to Belgium for treatment.
I told you These chifra already halve dead only waiting for its burial.
Mohamed or gebretsadic from Adigrat?
ReplyDeleteDon't try to be smart with us, we know you ,you are one of TPLF's cadre like dogali and erty. Stop deceiving your self, you are not Eritrean Afar neither you are ethiopian Afar.
We do not have article 39 I Eritrea.
Be proud you are Tigrian.
Cane, What do you expect from weyn?
ReplyDeleteWhy complaining now when you get a response from Eritreans? Aren't Agames hired by their misinformation minister to defame and mislead readers wherever Eritrea/ns' mentioned.
ReplyDeleteEritreans have been watching silently, but enough is enough, it's a payback time.
Agame is just a small province of Tigray bordering with Eritrea. Agame like the rest of Tigray people are not our enemies. Our enemy is just weyn!!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, this is no surprise. lying' its deep in their DNA code.
ReplyDeleteAnd why are u people writing bad things about Eritrea, in every Agame/tgray sites.. hmmmmmmmm... u started it to defame our belove Eritrea. if u slap me, i will slap u back. Ab'aynka zelo gundi zeyrakas ab endamatka k'trei ay't'fetn. u are pathetic woyane's boy.
ReplyDeleteBiedemariam, it will be better if write about the money Issias and Kisha are hiding in Swis banks. About the demolishing of Eritrean natives by deki 40
ReplyDeleteBiedemariam. It will be much better if you write about the stolen money in Swis bank by Isaias ,Kisha and Moneky. Please write about the demolishen of the houses of netive Eritreans by deki 40 like you and Gideowen Abbay
ReplyDeleteOh Meles lost 120 thousand... thats why 1/3 of Eritrea was under Ethiopian control within 6 days of the offensive and Issayas was changing his diaper by the hour... right. Stupid Anbeta.
ReplyDeleteWetting your panties and name calling is all you can do as your Eritrea crumbles and rots from the inside out. Can you smell the the disgusting, gruesome stench of the dead carcass that is Eritrea?
ReplyDeleteThe Nile Agreement is between Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan. It does not concern Eritrea or Eritreans. Except those Eritreans that trek through the deserts... maybe the reduction of the Nile waters would mean not as many Eritreans will be eaten by crocodiles on their way to Egypt to sell their organs.
ReplyDeleteAn agame calling Eritreans anbeta? Kikikikiki
ReplyDeleteHow are the Ethiopians in Yemen?
ReplyDeleteWhat's up Dog? The Camel is coming!
ReplyDeleteDogali & Enda Arbi is one and same woyane mosquito, playing drama with himself to confuse readers LOL
ReplyDeleteYou know what? Dogali is the graveyard to your cousins :)
ReplyDeleteGo to Heck ! you and your damned dam LOL
ReplyDeleteAlec Arkey, zanzara zizzzzzzzzzzz ilom abza madote LOL
ReplyDeleteKirKir I thought the same thing.... comedy at its best.. LOL...hahahaha...
ReplyDeleteHahahaha....Nay'bhakie zanzara.... LOL...hahahah....
ReplyDeleteYou guys are wrong. You have never seen me say a bad comment about Eritrea or Eritreans. I am however clearly not in support of Isaias or the PFDJ. I am a nationalist but not a supporter of the government. And I am also not living in Europe or America or EthIopia.
ReplyDeleteAnd all the diaspora Eritreans can do is bark and cry about it
ReplyDeleteThat is really a smart comment since Eritreans and Tigray same the same DNA
ReplyDeleteAnd Senafe before colonialistion was considered part of the agame 'Europe' area
ReplyDeleteAn anbeta is an anbeta. I call it as I see it. As we ALL see it.
ReplyDeleteNo Ass hat, Dogali was the graveyard of your masters and enslavers, the Italians. Know the real history and not the one you fart out of your ass.
ReplyDeleteThe mosquito is your cousin. Distant cousin of the Anbeta.
ReplyDeleteI don't think watching your army being slaughtered on the battlefields of Badme like Fasika doro is comedy. But if it makes you laugh and you can still sleep at night. More power to you!
ReplyDeleteinferiority inferiority... the core the building blocks of qomakt Agame.
ReplyDeleteAwww, did that hurt? We'll keep our damn. You go to hell in the handbasket called Eritrea.
ReplyDeleteInferiority inferiority... the core the building blocks of qomalat Agame.
ReplyDeleteThey went over looking for economic opportunities. Where as the Eritreans went over to escape enslavement plus economic opportunities.
ReplyDeleteHahahahahaha..............
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! Finally someone with some sense. Lets hear about the nearly $800 million in Eritrean individual's names discovered at HSBC bank. Lets talk about that.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the camel going to do? offer me his organs?
ReplyDeleteMany people do not know, the meaning of Agame, and that is a nick name for tigray
ReplyDeletein the feudal era separating them from Eritreans, according to them, and that means
Thief, liar, chameleon, beggar, and in Oromo, tigray means "serto Yemaibela" day time
go for begging, and night time a house breaker. I sorry the Ethiopians has said it.
My friend if you want to understand you write it in English I do not know your language. Off course, you do not know my language too.
ReplyDeleteTo Derho Agame

ReplyDeletekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk It was in the time of Italy but in the time of highlanders, the opposite is true.
ዓጋሚኖ ዓርከይ, ዲያስፖራ ኤርትራዊያን, ተማህሊልካ ኣይትረኽቦን ኢኻ..ፅባ, ማዓር, ትፈልጥ..It's like that..
ReplyDeleteWe never say in the past that amhara was our enemy, we're saying unfortunately all the administrator of ethiopia on time was donkeys, this is true..weyane included..
ReplyDeleteOnly a donkey don't understand and pay something 5 times more for the same thing could pay 1..If you weyane was sane principle, could use in peace our ports and save 5 times more..economically this is not sustainable, politically is a total failure..You know the weyane forte, unfortunately is deceit (metellal, serqi, hasot).
About the 2nd point, maybe you want to go to war "always you're an Eritrean"? While i, as an Eritrean, as the quasi total of the Eritreans, will never go to war, cause we know what is war. This means awareness, "halafenet, wey h llena".
I would not mind to read about foreigners but if the writer's intention is to deflect us from looking inward, he/she is committing unpardonable sin.
ReplyDeleteBy the way who cares if woyane lies ; after all isn't that its hallmark? It is nothing new. Let us leave it alone and sooner or later, it will succumb under the weight of its own perversions. It is just a matter of time. That was what happened to Mengistu Hailemariam, Hails Selase, Ferdinand Marcus of the Philipins, Seseco of Congo and many other tyrants.
We must never forget however that these thugs would not have had the capacity to inflict the kinds of brutalities on their respective people for so long unless some disgraceful local opportunists had served them as eulogists, as appologists, as killer squads etc. The blame, therefore, cannot be limited to the thugs alone; at the end of the day, these malicious enablers must be held equally responsible for the crime committed.
Eritrea, the legacy of our Martyrs, the home of the brave, we must all admit, is passing through such hard time. Isaias afewerqi ,for reason he only knows, has thrown the country and the people into the present predicament. But as is usual for such thugs, isaias afewerqi has an array of opplogists, eulogists, who project him as superhuman being whose knowledge and moral integrity rivals the angels, and notwithstanding the jealousy and interference of the western countries, Eritrea is progressing by leaps and bounds and the people are enjoying the peace and prosperity his Godly leadership is showering on them.
Is there any iota of truth on what the oppologists and eulogists have been uttering? Not a bit of truth. If what they say had any truth on the ground, isaias would not have isolated the country and the youngsters would not have fled their country in droves. As the Eritrean catholic leaders said, Who leaves heaven to go to hell? But isaias is about to harvest what he has been sowing. He is being investigated for Human Right Abuse by the UN. And if their oral report is an indication of what is to come, he will not fare well.he is doomed.
Cane libero. Maybe you are not old enough as before liberation in 1991 a lot of Eritreans certainly considered the Amhara as our enemies. And yes I know what war is it is horrible. But we should at least be going through the motions to press for international support on implementing the border decision.
ReplyDeleteTell this to mama silas in Mekele, that ferment the Sua, she will
ReplyDeletegive you the Hatela, take it Ali Mirah and feed him, and tell him
originally that you are from him, and now you became super agame afar of Ethiopia.
Alec you. You do the same exact thing even to Eritreans that do not agree with you or rather do not support the government
ReplyDeleteHe has confused Eritreans with TPLF. We do not generalized people as bad. Meles said"Amhara united Ethiopia by brutal violence and supported by British. No longer will Amhara rule Ehiopian." As a result of this, this criminal man and his henchmen have been managed to reduce Amharans by over 2.5 million and carried out mass sterilization of Amhara people, everywhere inside Ethiopia.
ReplyDeletebark bark bark bark
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you come home?
You keep on whaling like a wounded bitch dog
Cow pat man!
ReplyDeleteI mean, You are not Eritrean Afar! You are undercover TPLF cadre!!!!!!
Yeah right. Call everyone weyone or agame even Eritreans that simply have a different opinion of you
ReplyDeleteYou must be fro. zela Ambesa on the other side of the border
ReplyDeleteWhat are you a bitch dog from the Eritrean diaspora? The camel has been on vacation since 2002 and is just watching Ethiopia illegally occupy Badme without doing a thing while Eritrean youth leave the country in droves. We need a new government in Eritrea that can settle the border issue once and for all so that all of us can move on with our lives
ReplyDeleteNo, that money is belong to the late meles Zenawe and Sibahat Nega.
ReplyDeleteMichael. Ask people that were actually living in Asmara before liberation and they will tell you the same thing that the Amharas were not liked. For an Eritrean girl or boy at that time to marry an Amhara would mean that they would be ostracized by their families. There were however quite a few mixed marriages between Eritreans and Tigrians that was not viewed in the same negative light. Before liberation we really did not pay much mind to people from Tigray as they were having much of he same problems that we were having with the dengue. We were fighting to liberate Eritrea and they were largely fighting against forced relocation.
ReplyDeleteDogs like we have been selling camel organs all the time. Whenever our camels shit we sell it to you as brains and you then cook and eat it thinking that it will make you smarter
ReplyDeleteYou're an idiot.
ReplyDeleteOk you dont need Meles Z money? You are right it is the poor Ethios money LOL
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteIS IY NOT ANBETTA THAT YOU DRY; GROUND AND USE AS PART OF YOUR DAILY MEAL? ZMY FRIEND YMEDHANE UDED TO BRING YHR SAME ANBRTYAOWDRR AND SAYS IS GOOD FOR NESER....NOSE BLEEDING AND....
Of course his Agame qomal trying so hard to mislead people. he thinks hid deceiving us. LOL....hahahaha.....
ReplyDeleteSTUP!------qomal Agame.
ReplyDeleteyou are write I am not Eritrean but I am Red sea lowlander.
ReplyDeleteyou are right Ethiopian Afar"s are part of the Red sea lowland. But Ethiopian Tigrians and Eritrean Tigrians are not part of the lowland.
ReplyDeleteOuch poor amaniel/halhal is so resentful of Ethiopia's government and its diplomacy that he tries to twist and turn this Nile agreement to make Ethiopia look bad. Did you enjoy the show poor aman. Don't worry, your isolated leader was not invited, but the Sudanese were kind enough to broadcast the event so he could watch from Asmara (that is assuming there was no power outage of course lol).
ReplyDelete
