Seventy Ethiopian migrants drown off Red Sea coast of Yemen
By Reuters
At least 70 Ethiopians drowned when a boat used by smugglers to transport illegal migrants to Yemen sank in the Red Sea in rough weather, security authorities in the western part of the country said on Sunday.
Human traffickers often use unseaworthy boats to smuggle African migrants to Yemen, seen as a gateway to wealthier parts of the Middle East, such as Saudi Arabia and Oman, and the West.
Security authorities in Taiz province said the small boat sank on Saturday due to high winds and rough seas off the country's al-Makha port.
They said the boat was carrying 70 people, all of them Ethiopians.
Tens of thousands of migrants from Africa, the Middle East and beyond crowd into often unsafe boats each year and many drown.
In March, at least 42 illegal African migrants drowned in the Arabian Sea off the southern coast of Yemen.

70 Ethiopians drown and you are the first to report it. More than 230 Eritreans drown and you don't say a word . Why? I am beginning to believe you are ethiopian. And thanks for the report. May the soul of these Ethiopians rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteHow is that an issue, you Donut! You should be more concerned about the lives of those perished!! Does it really matter, if it's reported or unreported?? You people can never focus on the bigger picture... asperger's!!!
ReplyDeleteOf course it matters if it's reported or not. If ONE single person dies, it should be reported. YOU CAN'T HIDE THE TRUTH !
ReplyDeletesad the news is all over the news media if you will. but my question to you i s what exactly is your point? you seem really disappointed, are you disappoint because the victims are not eritreans or you disappoint because madote post the report? well my friend whatever it is get over yourself and may god bless and rest them in peace all to the brothers and sisters.
ReplyDeleteRed Sea: a peril to ethiopians
ReplyDeleteIronically an otherwise calm and peacefull sea know to pocess immense natural wealth is becoming a quiet culprit of many innocent lives fleeing economic hardships at home to a greener pasture in the well-off Arabian and beyond republics.
Unfortunately for the many inspired by the few success story their lives end tragically. Despite the readily available information in all types of media outlets; the allure of breaking free from perpetual poverty supersedes somber analysis of the perils that lay ahead; for many Ethiopians of today and yesteryears the Red Sea has been quietly swallowing millions; it continue' to be a peril to Ethiopian lives.
Ethiopian regime was boasting in is manufacturing weapons to its army for killing its own people and for the AU, while its poor people die in vein, may their soul rest in peace, no matter who no one deserves in perish in sea for untangle wealth promise!
ReplyDeleteMemory comes, did you remember the Ethiopia spokeswomen in 2000, when she was asked about the number of Ethiopians who died to capture the Super city of Badme in the 10 of thousand her reply was 'how did you know these bodies were Ethiopians was by their smell, what an arrogance to from an ignorant women, now working against he government in her new refugee camp in the USA.
ReplyDeletedo you feel proud then or better of because the number of Eritreans who died were more than the now Ethiopians, what a brain!
ReplyDeleteSamson. How dumb are you ? I just said if ONE single person die it should be reported. Who cares about the number ? This is not a contest. We should all mourn our dead brothers and sisters. not pick and choose a story.

ReplyDeleteRest in peace!!! We the Eritreans know the loss of such a big number in one day and may the almighty god bring peace and stability in the region. Such incidents are rooted from the lawlessness and cruel leaderships of the mafia PFDJ and Woyanne. The people of these two countries have suffered a lot, while a handful of criminals are enjoying the wealth of the masses.
ReplyDeleteRasless, is it because or just may be the Danes and Nordic had stopped giving a blanket asylum to any one with the mention of Eritrea that these poor souls were masquerading as Ethiop? I know a tide turns usually bringing sea weed with it but an ethiop? May be the first just as your speculation: Eryan pretending as an ethiop.
ReplyDeleteThx for the laughter; comedy and tragedy keep us all sane?
HGDEF and its progogand outlets like Madote and Tesfanews care more about the death of Ethiopian refugees than Eritreans. This shouldn't be a contest but more of a tragedy, seeing our African brother and sisters dying I search of better life away from dictators at home.
ReplyDeleteForeskin, it is your desparate attempt to label every tragedy that comes our of your failed eritrea as "Ethiopian" because of the humiliation you feel inside. You remember? Your own government in complete shock and emarassement I'm sure labeled the over 300 eritreans that drowned in the Mediterranean sea last year as "African Migrants". Your own government denying and betraying you. What else have you got left. You have FAILED, You have KNEELED DOWN. DEAL WITH IT!!!!
ReplyDeleteCould you at least learn some thing from the decent and humane messages posted by all Eritreans relative to the lose of your people; which happened to be all from Tigrai. Wedi Mai Telamit, you just could not help it; can you! Here you are your people to have perished and you do not have a single decent and humane word to say about!
ReplyDeleteFor your information, your people are not only running out of Ethiopia; they are also running out of Addis Ababa for the Oromo are coming to reclaim Addis Ababa. The Ehiopian volcano is only to erupt more to consume the DEKI MAI TELAMIT. Watch it, you still have time to run for your life out of Addis Ababa and other Ethiopian towns between now and May 22, 2015.

Rasless, why scratch an old wound? then again why not, since you have failed in all aspects; Eritrea is free and independent, self governing and prosperous state; that is what's left to do.
ReplyDeleteYour reasoning is clouded with your deep sitted hatred and envy, to top it off you are riddled with inferiority complex. what makes me say this is the simple fact that you think of us as if we are not located in Africa and that ship of death was named "Titanic." it originated in the coastal waters of Africa and we rightly presumed was loaded with "African Migrants," nothing more nothing less.
BTW, I referred to you as "Rasless" to just call you Alula, meaning no Ras just Alula; but as usual in your sneaky and devilish nature you have taught me the true meaning: Headless!
Kneeling down? just to shoot, and occasions to pray; call it what you like but; ERITREA: NEVER KNEEL DOWN! you've seen it.
As to calling me infidel; you might be one and the 'shelefet' is hygienically not safe. I recommend: 'TekenchebU aregawee'.
You're an idiot. Making up stories to make yourself feel better. Where the hell did you get that "the Oromo are coming!!" seriously?! "The Ethiopian volcano" really?! you're just stupid.
ReplyDeleteUmm, Eritrea is not free. It's a prison state that your people are willing to sell their organs to escape. Eritrea cannot feed itself. In short Eritrea has been politically decapitated, militarily declawed and economically defanged. You're a useless rump state no one would remember if it weren't for Issayas Afwerki's constant loud farting in international forums.
ReplyDeleteWedi Alula, Wedi Telami, your brothers and sisters are not only scattered in the deserts of Saudi Arabia and Yemen; they are also scattered in the wilderness of 10 East and South African countries that extends from Kenya to South Africa. Before not too long, the “East and South African Safari” shall be populated not by wild animals of Africa but by your brothers and sisters. It is time for you do something to save your people for there is nothing South Africa could offer to save your people. When I say your people I mean the Tigrawot.
ReplyDeleteAs for Eritrea, take a look, the “can do” country, Eritrea is marching forward there is no force stopping Eritrea before Eritrea reaches the Promised Land. With hardworking, talented, and creative people; Eritrea could only travel the road to progress and success. Do not take my word for it; just read and see for pictures do not lie. Besides, SHAEBIA never stop before reaching the final objective.
May Abune Aregawi of Debre Damo forgive you from all the sins you committed against the Ethiopians.
I don't think there is any way the we should use this for political argument, we both the Eritrean people or Ethiopian should protect our peoples form any bad things. We should work hard to safe them this isn't a time to against each other but to work together to safe our people.
ReplyDeleteEritrea prosperous? Even Assyass would lough if he would read this
ReplyDeleteTHE SUN NEVER SETS ON AN ERITREAN....NO MORE ON THE BRITS.
