Conference on Re-afforestation and Preservation of Wildlife Underway in Asmara
By Yemane G. Meskel,
The Annual National Conference on Re-afforestation and Preservation of Wildlife was opened today at the Expo in Asmara.
Launched in 2006, the Conference brings together relevant Ministries and all Zoba Administrations under the sponsorship of the Minister of Agriculture.
The theme this year calls for marshalling "vigorous efforts for the Green Campaign" through enhanced regulatory mechanisms and afforestation.
The Minister of Agriculture announced in his keynote address that supply of seedlings for the coming year will increase by 3-fold to 25 million.
The Green Campaign encompasses concerted action with relevant Ministries to secure sustained replacement of firewood by other alternatives.

ReplyDeleteEvery inch of Massawa needs to be covered in trees. In the summer time, Massawa can make Hell feel like Spring time. In my opinion, the city's future will be bleak if global warming continues to cause temperatures to rise. I think planting more trees there can help with bringing the temperatures down there.
