  5. MOSCOW, February 17. /ITAR-TASS/. Problems of the African continent should be solved by Africans themselves and on the basis of balance of interests, international law and support from the international community, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday after talks with Eritrean counterpart Osman Saleh Mohammed.

“We have held useful talks, considering the key issues of the international and regional agenda,” Lavrov said. “We have agreed on the supremacy of international law, the central role of the United Nations and the importance of cooperation in addressing global threats and challenges to security.”

“We give special attention to the situation in different African regions, to the south of the Sahara and in the Horn of Africa, including the situation in Somalia, between Sudan and South Sudan and in the African Great Lakes region, alongside relations between Ethiopia and Eritrea,” Lavrov said.

“We would like to help normalise these relations as well as other critical points on the African continent," he added.

  6. MOSCOW, February 17. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia and the east African state of Eritrea should look for specific ways of working together in trade and the economy, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday, opening negotiations with counterpart Osman Saleh Mohammed.

“We appreciate our regular contacts and we are interested in intensifying them,” he said. “I am sure that we should turn our political dialogue into searching for specific spheres of interaction, first of all, in trade and the economy.”

Moscow aims also to build academic and educational contacts with Eritrea given that they “have their own history and traditions”, Lavrov added.

The two countries were closely connected by co-operation in the international arena, in the UN and on other international stages where “our positions are similar or coincide”. “Today we can exchange views on the challenges we face,” Lavrov said, as his visitor noted “a good opportunity to develop partnership”.

    Ladies and Gentlemen ,

My colleague the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Eritrea O.Salehom held useful talks . Addressed key issues of international and regional agenda . Confirmed the closeness of ourpositions on most of the issues discussed with respect to the rule of international law, the UN’s central role and the importance of collective response to global threats and challenges to international and regional security. Agreed to continue to work closely in the UN and other international markets.

Keep the focus of the situation in different regions of Africa , including Sub-Saharan Africa , the Horn of Africa , including the situation in Somalia, the Republic of Sudan and South Sudan , the Central African Republic , in the Great Lakes . Discussed the relations between Ethiopia and Eritrea . Would like to promote the normalization of these relations , as well as the settlement of other problematic issues on the African continent .

We are convinced that all issues relating to Africa must be addressed primarily by Africans themselves based on the balance of interests of international law with the support of the international community .

We have a common interest in the development of bilateral relations. Today we discussed the contacts in the political sphere to deepen political dialogue . We signed the first in the history of bilateral relations plan consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Eritrea , which will further deepen our political interaction.

Particular attention was paid to the problem of the development of trade and economic ties. Russian companies are interested in implementing a number of investment projects in Eritrea. Our partners have confirmed that they are ready to create favorable conditions for Russian business.

During his stay in Moscow O.Salehu have meetings in the Ministries of Natural Resources and Environment , Education and Science of the Russian Federation Chamber of Commerce . We presume that will be discussed in detail the specific challenges and opportunities to expandeconomic ties in the field of investment , trade and development – we are interested in the derivation of trade relations between the two countries to a new level .

I believe that our talks were useful. We renewed our interest in strengthening their cooperation in all areas. We will ensure that all talked about today , embodied in specific cases .

  11. This is part of the BRICS Bank process, a pro Africa development bank, a financial institution aimed to break away Africa and other developing nations of the world from Western dependency and the corrupt IMF/World Bank. BRICS Bank is rival to those Western financial institutions that are crippling Africa and the Global South. The abbreviation BRICS stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Yes, finally the world is standing up against Western domination.

  13. Yes every thing is possible if we approach each others positively regardless of our deference and beside that specially we the people of Ethiopia and Eritrea are the same peoples that bound together for centuries and will remain that way ones we fix our deference and the problem we have now will be behind us .

  14. Yesterday is history , but , today is the day that we have to approach positively for better tomorrow if the other side willing to cooperate .

  15. I've read your sugar coated poison article that you replied to madote. You said, "We the people of Eritrea and Ethiopia are the same people that bound together for centuries and will reamin that way once we fix our problem". LOL. In Amharic adage, "Doro Siyataliluwat Bemechagna Taluwat". First of all, the people of Eritrea never bound with Ethiopia even for a single day. We the people of Eritrea will never ever forget the atrocities committed against the people of Eritrea by successive Ethiopia regime for centuries. The people of Eritrea forgave Ethiopia for the massacre of Ona, Beskedira, Adi Ebrihim, Omhajer by Shambel Belew, Aqordet (the black Sunday), Asmara(1975), Weki Duba, Hirgigo, Massawa (1990), Shieb Gedged, and the invasion of Weyane.
Only we could live in peace and harmony as neighbors.
Please, Ethiopians awake from your day dream. No more annexation and binding

  16. What you have stated above are right and what I am trying to explain was not about to annex to fight or about any kind of harm to our brothers and sisters in Eritrea but to start with positive communications to gradually come together to use our resources that we all benefit for better tomorrow.
