Eritrea Begins Evacuation of its Citizens in South Sudan
Amid a bloody inter-ethnic conflict in South Sudan, Eritrea says is giving priority to evacuating its citizens from Bentiu and Unity State, an Eritrean official tweeted yesterday.
The official also addressed a rumor created by the so-called opposition in which they falsely claimed the Eritrean government is charging its citizens in order to be evacuated.
"Those who lied that Eritrea embassy is charging citizens for evacuation have further exposed themselves, angered community in South Sudan."
Since the conflict erupted on the evening of 14 December, the Eritrean Embassy in Juba said one Eritrean has been killed and two others have been wounded, and that they are treating their injured citizens.
The embassy also said private property of some Eritreans were looted and advised their citizens to take necessary precaution until the conflict calms down.
