Eritrea's Gold Commercial Production Begins
Last Tuesday, Nevsun Resources CEO Cliff Davis stated his company has started commercial production at its Bisha mine in Eritrea, and disclosed its capital cost were “very substantially” below its estimate of $260-million.
Nevsun first started its commissioning phase at Bisha in December and has produced around 40,000 oz of gold. Over the last 30 days, the production level averages have increased to about 5,250 t/d, with a peak reaching 6,560 t/d, the report added.
“We're now producing over 1,000 oz per day, and because of our very low costs, we are making over a million dollars a day,” Davis told Mining Weekly Online.
